Beyoncé is renowned for being dedicated to her profession and rarely puts a foot wrong in her art and performances. It seems however this level of perfectionism has seeped into her health and lifestyle ways also, after she revealed the extreme lengths she went to in order to lose weight for her Coachella headline performance last year.
In a newly released Netflix film, titled ‘Homecoming’, Beyoncé documents the lead up to her headline slot which was originally postponed from 2017 after she found she was pregnant with twins Rumi and Sir Carter. In order to be physically fit and in peak condition to pull off her energetic routines, Beyoncé went into lockdown with her diet and pushed herself to the limit.

After stating she weighed 218lbs on the day she gave birth, she said:
‘In order for me to meet my [weight] goals, I’m limiting myself to no bread, no carbs, no sugar, no dairy, no meat, no fish, no alcohol… I’m hungry.

Hungry!? I’d be starving!
Justifying her extreme diet decision, she explained:
It’s not like before when I could rehearse 15 hours straight. I have children. I have a husband. I have to take care of my body.

Although admitting it allowed her to see how her body was capable of whatever she put her mind too, she knew it was too far and she vowed ‘never to push myself that far again’.

Despite the gruelling nature of the lead up to Coachella, Beyoncé was clearly delighted in how far she had come especially after having a difficult pregnancy and labour. Safe to say the headline performance was epic and Beyoncé herself was totally flawless, but few knew the immense sacrifice she made in terms of family life and diet to achieve such perfection.
We certainly wouldn’t recommend limiting your diet so drastically, even if for a big homecoming performance. If it got too much for Beyoncé, it would definitely get too much for us!
