Would you pay $3000 for a burger?

This Is The World’s Most Expensive Burger

Burgers can be one of the cheapest foods around. If you pop into a fast-food outlet you’ll often be able to pick up a burger for a dollar, or even less. It’s easy to see why. Unlike the world’s most expensive steak, burger meat isn’t required to be high-quality given that the patty is just one part of a burger.

That’s certainly not the case at this Dutch eatery who offer a burger for a whopping $3,000. Why? Well it’s all to do with the ridiculously fancy ingredients.

The burger includes not one, not two, not three but four of the most lavish ingredients around: lobster, caviar, foie gras, and truffle.

“What an amazing journey this burger has brought me! This is the most expensive hamburger in the world! With wagyu, lobster, pata negra , foie gras, caviar, truffle and as you can see its top is coated in gold leaf,” Chef Diego wrote on Instagram.

Chef Diego’s crazy burger, which is about the same cost as 1,500 McDonald’s hamburgers, has made it into the Guinness Book of Records as the most expensive burger in the world.

It’s not just the fancy ingredients, and finest possible cuts of everything, the brioche bun is also covered with 24-carat gold leaf.

It’s this particular touch of luxury that separates Chef Diego’s burger from the next most expensive, which is a $300 burger on offer at Le Burger Extravagant in New York. This burger has a touch of gold about it, too.

It’s served with a solid gold “toothpick encrusted with diamonds and designed by jeweller, Euphoria New York.” Fancy that.

The question is: is it ever worth spending that sort of money on food? Seems unlikely. Perhaps unnecessary, too. Quality of meat is important, sure, but avoiding the most common mis-stakes, and following Gordon Ramsay’s method for cooking the perfect steak can transform a cheap cut into something glorious.

Right, I’m off for a burger. Cheers.
